Week 33 - ITF ($100K) - Vancouver, Canada Hard

A big result in many subtle ways, for Hev, for Katie, for GB tennis.

Fantastic. Guaranteed British semi finalist here.

Well done Hev (and Katie).

Yes ! Well done Hev, a much needed win. Three Brits on court at once, and they all win !

So the horrible overseas player standing in Katie's way now is Ms Watson from some island off the coast of France.

Some say she's quite nice though.

Looking at the current scores and remaining matches, it's actually pretty likely that Katie will be the only seed remaining, but there'd still be some very capable players left in the competition, including Hev and 6 of the potential last 8 have been in the top 60 at some point in their careers.

*That's if the 2 remaining Canadian's put out the respective #1 and #2 seeds Kozlova and Wickmayer. Marino is currently a set up on Yanina and Bouchard is the favourite against the Ukrainian in the late match.

Arantxa Rus loses.

So Katie ( WR 208 as recently as 19th March ) will go top 100 if she beats Hev.

Some say just a number but we know that it's a very significant number to many including particularly many players.

It's going to be interesting.

#7 Rus is out now, joining Alexandrova (3), Jabeur (4), Barthel (6) (withdrew) and Haddad Maia (8).

Katie is indeed the only seed remaining but still a strong quarter final line up.

As this new batch were coming through I was hoping they'd pull Robbo with them (I didn't know at the time she was injured). I never thought that I would be hoping the same for Hev.
I have to say I'm rooting more for katie in this one, although a British semi finalist isn't exactly disappointing in my book whichever way it goes. Exiting times for British tennis.
