I did put forward the bug theory after Harriet's withdrawal. Didn't want further evidence or a quite remarkable coincidence.

Guess, it's possible that one or two of the players who have reached the court and lost might even have been affected.

I'm reliably informed that the rash of GB withdrawals here are not in any way linked but no more info than that.

Gabi playing nice agressive tennis against Brengle, who also starts arguing with the umpire about line calls. Gabi breaks her then consolidates, and is now a game away from the first set, 5-2*

Gabi seems to have anew kit sponsor today.
That looks like the new Nike kit. Can't remember her ever being in Nike before; she certainly wasn't in it earlier in the week, or last week in Lexington. She's always recently been with Wilson for both racquets and apparel, or some time ago Adidas.
Although I don't like Nike at all as a company, I hope for Gabi's sake that this is a new endorsement, and thus an aid to her tour aspirations, and recognition for her hard work and progress.

Or, she may just have bought some new kit, and I'm reading far too much in to it. I would have thought that sort of deal would be mentioned in her social media if it were true, and I can't see anything to that effect anywhere.

Whatever kit or sponsorship she's in, or under, she's acquiting herself well. Just given back the break, but very competitive, 5-4*

Gabi's playing vastly better than when I saw her against Pegula last week. Really making Brengle work for it with some lovely aggressive shots forehand and backhand, and with far cleaner hitting and fewer errors. One long, very tight game with multiple, multiple deuces on Brengle's serve, and on her 3rd or 4th set point, Brengle errs and Gabi takes it 6-4.
