All of a sudden, they are all over. Alex W takes the 2nd set on a breaker to win 7-6 7-6 whilst Dan raced to a 2-0 lead in the decider, at which point his opponent promptly retired. So Dan and Alex safely through to FQR.

Dan historically likes this Challenger swing in the US running through to the Autumn but has never been a great traveler. Obviously a lot has changed for him hopefully once he's settled back into his surroundings time zones etc... he will continue to improve his rank.
We may have to be patient as his fitness was not up to the challenge set him in the run up to Wimbledon (which was no small undertaking) and taking that as a baseline he is some way off being at a level where he can compete consistently repeatedly going deep into matches with top 150 players. He really needs that November training block which hopefully once he has affirmed his ambitions to get right back to top 50 tennis he will organise and commit to, it's not clear to me how much support he has.
Is Jay OK, it sounded as if there was a dizziness bug going around Lexington.
I don't feel like it's Dan's fitness so much as his concentration from what I saw on the grass swing. It was a lot of matches due to the WCs he was given, so I don't think it will be impact him in the US. Saying that, I have no idea why he went out so early last week.
It sounds like a very weak qualies field, so hopefully our boys will at least qualify.
Just hope that the daft Wimbledon snub hasn't had a negative effect on Dan. He hasn't had that many matches since then so no build up of matches effecting him as before and in what he has produced not pushed on, arguably the reverse from his encouraging early comeback days.
Agree that the off season will be important to him to really work on fitness ( something that his off year should have had better but we are where we are ) but he should still be capable of some good results.
C'mon Dan, and our others too of course.
