Week 32 - Nordic Naturals Challenger - Aptos, CA, USA ($100,000) (hard)

QR1:  Thomas Fancutt (AUS) WR 633 (CH = 604 in July last year) vs Luke Bambridge WR 696 (CH = 481 in May 2016)

If Luke somehow wins that one, he'll play the q1, Yosuke Watanuke.  hmm

QR1:  (q2) Dan Evans WR 315 (CH = 41 in March last year) vs BYE

QR2:  (q3) Alex Ward WR 337 (CH = 242 in June 2106) vs BYE

Liam should be in the main draw & Jay may have crept in.  Dan won the thing two years ago.

So he is!  No idea how I missed him.    Opening post amended accordingly.

This could be a chance for Dan to build a few wins and form like he did on grass. Fingers crossed

Jay and Liam both in us open qualies as you'd expect, presume cut won't fall enough to let others in, obviously kyle, Cam and Andy in main draw. Hope Liam finds some form before then and Jays.fitness is a temporary blip

Hopefully Dan will have a good run somewhere and get a WC into USO qualies.

This is the tournament that always sounds like the title of a 1970s girlie mag...

I totally agree, but wasn't brave enough to say!   Wasn't brave enough to comment about the recent LGBT challenger event in NY State, either...

I'm hoping that there will be more opportunity for us to watch our boys playing  this coming week than last week.   Last week was spoilt by early exits and krap scheduling

I'm suprised that the qualies draw here has so many empty spaces, and even more suprised that they choose to make some players play 2 matches on Saturday. Why??!!

Dan is struggling now having lost the first set; hope he keeps fighting and turns it around.

Alex won the first set on a tie-break.
