Hmm, tough. I like Donna and now Bencic is out of Washington I wanted her to win it, but even more so now.

Well, in the FQR the winner plays ...

(wc) Leylah Fernandez (CAN) WR 730 (CH 723 in April), age 15, JCH 13 or (alt) Alicja Rosolka (POL) UNR (CH 636 in 2003), age 32, doubles WR 30

(21) Petkovic pulled out since she is through to the Washington SF. And presumably Vekic will follow if she also reaches the SF?

Just saw the full draw Indi and yes a good opportunity if she can get through the tie. Not sure if Petko was automatically withdrawn, but if so, then I'll massively be hoping Donna beats Linette.

Mind, we saw Stollar (probably at a similar level to Katie) push Vekic all the way last night so it's obviously not a foregone conclusion it that match up happens, although losing 6 straight games to Kiick was less encouraging.

Will do, a lot of waffle with Simona now so can't see it happening any time soon although a nice time filler until Vika starts especially that Washington is rain delayed.

Think I like this better when the women are in Toronto.

Looks like Konta has a seed.

It's Ostapenko for Konta, probably Azarenka next if she wins as well. Tough.

I'll post the full draw up later.

Some interesting 1st round ties:

Konta vs Ostapenko is definitely the stand out (not just from this forums perspective)
Sakkari vs Kasatkina - French Open rematch and Sakkari is having a very good 2018, particularly on hard courts
S Williams vs Cornet - A bit of Wimbledon nostalgia there and the winner plays Kerber - more nostalgia should Serena could through.
Bouchard vs Mertens should be OK with Genie showing a bit of form recently and being the home town girl

Others - Kontaveit/Makarova, Ka Pliskova/Siniakova, Azarenka/Mladenovic

(1)Halep v BYE
Pavlyuchenkova v Q
Q v Cirstea
Q v (13)V.Williams
(12)Kasatkina v Sakkari
Sharapova v Q
Strycova v Rybarikova
BYE v (6)Garcia

(4)Kerber v BYE
S.Williams v Cornet
Van Uytvanck v Q
Begu v (15)Barty
(9)Ka.Pliskova v Siniakova
Zhao v Bertens
Makarova v Kontaveit
BYE v (7)Muguruza

(5)Svitolina v BYE
Krunic v Sevastova
Q v Gavrilova
Babos v (10)Goerges
(16)Osaka v Q
Tsurenko v Q
(wc)Abanda v Q
BYE v (3)Stephens

(8)Kvitova v BYE
Q v Buzarnescu
Azarenka v Mladenovic
Konta v (11)Ostapenko
(14)Mertens v (wc)Bouchard
Zhang v Q
Sabalenka v Q
BYE v (2)Wozniacki

So if Konta was to do well here, a potential path could be Ostapenko - Azarenka - Kvitova - Wozniacki - Svitolina/Stephen just to reach the final. Christ.

Not getting ahead of myself, but if Katie was to qualify then another hometown girl Abanda would definitely be the best option especially a she has beaten her in North America earlier this year. Zhang is in poor form as well so that would be an opportunity but I'm not really seeing any potential path where she might have a chance of picking up a couple of wins.

She's obviously got to get there first but if Vekic withdraws then there will be a half decent chance.

That draw is terrible.

Lots of doubles players in the qualy draw. A few girls will rightly be regretting their scheduling as they head off to play a very tough 60k qualies field instead.
