A pity, as Mark had broken the Brazilian when he served for it at 5-3, only to cave in on his own service.  hmm

Anyone know what Aidan's plans are? He did have a disappointing summer, which has had me thinking college might be the best route given his size, but he has made decent strides previously on the men's tour and did make the semis at the Aussie juniors, so I guess there's a decent argument for him to keep going with the pros

I was guessing that being signed up with Andy Murray's management company, along with Katie Swan, his plans were to continue as a pro. I don't know though, indeed don't know if the US College route at least is still an option.

Assuming that Mr McHugh has been accepting the (meagre) prize money from futures events, then isn't he ruled out of American college sports?

As I understand it, there's a £10k allowance now. It used to be that you could accept money to cover expenses but that was difficult to account for so they changed it to say you can 'earn' 10k, that's all. I haven't checked and Aidan will have got a tidy sum for his Wimbly quali appearance but I doubt he's over 10k.

However, signing with a pro agency was a definite no-no, I thought.

They served for it at 5-3 in the second!

SF:  Tiago Cação & Guilherme Osorio (POR/POR) UNR (588+0) vs Jonathan Binding & Francisco Dias (POR) CR 2227 (1196+1031)

The unranked Portuguese pair despatched the top seeds, our old friend Fred & his partner, by 2 & 0 in their QF...
