L16:  (7) George Loffhagen WR 887 defeated Panu Virtanen (FIN) WR 1591 by 2 & 2  smile

*****

QF:  (1) Laurent Rochette (FRA) WR 555 (CH = 202 in October 2012 - he's now 30) vs (7) George Loffhagen WR 887

P.S.  Thanks for the edit, Paul.  It's really irritating when I copy & paste & then forget to amend ALL the necessary bits relating to the next round!

Neat job, George.

Rochette's current ranking is made up largely of one ITF 15k win in Turkey back in Nov 17. He's got a couple of SFs from around the same time. More recently, he's only made QFs and L16 - although he used to be a decent player some years back, and certainly has experience, he's not an overly strong top seed now, that's for sure.
Good luck to George.

Should be a walk in the park the worlds number 510 has just been beaten by an unranked 16 year old!

George raced to a 5-1 lead, got pegged back, but managed to close the first set 6-4

The momentum though continued with Rochette who took the second set 6-4

Seems like the momentum has done a 180º turn as George races into a 4-0* lead. I hope George can see this through from here more easily than he did in the 1st set.
