So should be 9 in the main draw, same as last year. In hindsight, might have been better giving Emily Arb or one of the Pitaks a WC and have someone like Freya or Lissy doing qualifiers for more chance of getting more in the main draw, but then again, they may have slipped up in qualifying and some of those mentioned earlier would probably almost be a walking bye in the main draw, although if they did draw one of our girl's then one would definitely be advancing.
Hmm, a mixed bag there. A bit unlucky to draw 4 of the 8 seeds (albeit 6,7,8), but 2 quallies and a similar ranked opponent for Maia. One GB vs GB which is to be expected.
Fran with the 4th WC and not Emma Rad. Would hope to get 4 or 5 through through there. Max 7, min 1 obviously.
From a reliable source:
The MD entries here take us to 45 entries in total for the week.
That is the highest number of active players we have had in either 2017 or 2018 YTD.
The previous highest was 44, in week 43 of 2017 (Wiiral & Obidos made up the vast majority of entries then)
There have been 96 unique GB women active in 2018, so 44.79% of them are active this week!

Smitkova will be favourite to take her 3rd title on GB soil this year. Ozgen is a bit of a carpet specialist so there is a real opportunity for a quarter finalist to emerge from that section - if Beth can beat Ozgen then we're guaranteed one. Tough for Fran, but not beyond her and if she does win, then again, there will be a good chance of another QF as Freya has a winnable match and has shown a little bit of recovery in Canada recently.
