And she's just taken the mammoth long game to break at 4-4 and will now serve for the match.......which isn't a given, the way it's been going but......
First ever pro match I believe, so obviously a career-high win. And a good one at that - WR628
In context, every bit as flabbergasting a result as those of Ms. Boulter & Konta this week, probably more so. A simply amazing debut. Massively well done Ms. Hill
In the doubles:
R16: Keens/Wiiliam (GBR/GBR) lost to Am. Bowtell/An. Bowtell (IRL/IRL) w/o
R16: Lazic/Stuart (GBR/GBR) UNR (both UNR) defeated O'Connor/Carton (IRL/IRL) UNR (both UNR) 7-5 6-0
That point should get Amelia a doubles ranking? Adding to a point from Antalya 09/2017 & another from Sharm 04/2018.
It seems to be Ema's second counter, to add to a point in Baja last month.
Kimberly lost which is a shame if this was her first event as a 'true' Brit.
But not a huge surprise (although I don't know her 2002-born opponent and from what I can see she's got no great form on paper).
Kimberly's had a difficult time, with her asylum seeker status problems for her and her family, and everyone must wish her well. But she has a very stiff, awkward game which tries to generate power the wrong way and it's difficult to see it going far.
Ema took the first set but is down in the second
I've seen the young Irish girl play. Nothing special, average junior ranking.
Emily Appleton (bearing in mind her general poor form) is 1/200 to beat Georgia so make of that what you will. She was just about 8/15 to win today (Emily).

Nice to see Amy Bowtell playing again.
Very nice to see Amy playing again after a few years off.
