Well, taro did better than I expected but still lost. Amelia lost more comprehensively than I expected (0&0) but the loss itself was no surprise at all.
I've never heard of Julie Byrne so I've no idea how much potential she has, probably a bit judging by CDs post, but it must be a bit depressing for someone like Amelia, 23 years old going to a reasonably local 15k event and barely managing 11 points in total in 12 games against a home wildcard.

Yes
My money was majorly on Julie partly because she was a decent youngster/junior, who's then gone off to the States to do college tennis (although I don't really know how she's done over there). But mainly because, although it sounds cruel, Amelia really doesn't have the level, in my view.
Alice Gillan has lost the first set to the 15 year-old, born 2003, Irish girl.
And lost the second too.
That's not a great result for Alice.
Aisling is the girl who lost the Belfast junior event to GB's Alicia Dudeney, but she hasn't done anything else really as a junior, and this is her first adult event.
Congrats to her but that's got to be a big disappointment for Alice.
Kimberly lost which is a shame if this was her first event as a 'true' Brit.
But not a huge surprise (although I don't know her 2002-born opponent and from what I can see she's got no great form on paper).
Kimberly's had a difficult time, with her asylum seeker status problems for her and her family, and everyone must wish her well.
But she has a very stiff, awkward game which tries to generate power the wrong way and it's difficult to see it going far.
Partly as Sasha Hill's mother/parent posted on this forum recently, which was great, just to point out how well her daughter is doing against the second seed.....continuing her really good run in juniors..... currently 4-4 (she had been a break up but just got broken back)
Allez, Sasha !
Bah, Sasha lost the first set by 6-4 but good looking effort indeed.
Top seed Emily App is 4-1* up. Interesting that she chose here over Woking. If she can get a good number of singles matches and wins under her belt, indeed maybe the title, that may be no bad thing.
