2 Aces to close out the set. Jo played pretty well, and Kenin was a bit haphazard. Jo better on return than serve. Groundstrokes look crisp though.
She's changed her setup on the serve out wide. It looks for all the world like it's going down the T now. Both Serna & Kenin haven't picked it at all.
Some good things again today. Plenty of winners, not many UE, and very few of the 'what was that ?' errors, groundstrokes were deep and penetrating, and point construction was clear focused and well executed - keep points short.
Still not purring like she has in the past, but the 'process' is looking up.
She plays Mertens next which will be tough, the Belgian almost always has more to her than first appears to the eye. Take a repeat of their match in Miami this year
Heather loses 4-6 6-4 0-6 I don't know what went wrong in that final set. She seems to have given a good account of herself up till then.
Apparently Venus was playing a blinder and Hev was playing well, but just couldn't match Venus at near her best. At least for me it says hev's on her way back, just came across someone better on the day.
Hopefully something useful will start to grow for Heather from this week where there were genuine positives to carry forward for the first time in a while.
Johanna's QF is second up after 20:00 UK
