as the face suggests , kyle will play Andy in his second round if Andy wins. Andy hasn't had easy draws on his way back.

Let's hope the match up happens though !

 tough draw.

As an aside  I note that Marach and Pavic are home and dry and first to qualify for O2

Thanks for clearing that up.  I was wondering if Andy had done something to offend SC.

Andy Murray v Mackenzie McDonald not before midnight, Sky Sports Arena

I hate the US season time wise to UK.

Just awoke from a poor sleep in my hotel at before 5 am to see Andy is playing. Lost first set. Won second and 3-1 up in 3Rd.

Jamie and Bruno won 10-7 in the MTB

Andy wins from a set down, 3-6 6-4 7-5, on his *7th* match point - he hasn't lost the ability to worry us!

Watching from Peru so not too late here - just before midnight - so relieved to see Andy finally get over the line on, as Steven says, his seventh match point. Very spirited performance from McDonald but I thought Andy got better as the match went on especially in terms of his serve and managing to keep the ball deep which kept McDonald at bay. Much to improve upon but great to see him back moving well and looking focused and determined. A good win! Looking forward now to the match up with Kyle!

And then looks like rain hit again soon after so Andy managed to finish just in time!

Well done to Andy. Bound to be rusty, but heading in the right direction!

L48:  Andy Murray WR 832 defeated Mackenzie McDonald (USA) WR 20 by 3-6 6-4 7-5 (in two hours 37 minutes - a decent work-out!)

*****

L32:  Andy Murray WR 832 vs (4) Kyle Edmund WR 18  hmm

A good evening all round for the Murray family:

L16:  (4) Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares (BRA) CR 27 (13+14) defeated Karen Khachanov & Lucas Pouille (RUS/FRA CR 192 (76+116) by 6-4 5-7 [10-7]

Really pleased to see the doubles specialists put out the makeshift partnership of two singles players.
