Only problem I am having is that Jay lost that set 6-3.
He had two BPs in the final game. The first, Giron hit a remarkable smash winner from miles behind the baseline but on the second, Jay missed an easy put away off a short ball. On such fine margins ...............
Still time to fight back though Jay. Vamos.
And fight back he did. Excellent win for Jay. 3-6 6-3 6-2
Interesting sideline to Jays QF. He is currently at a CH of #217 on ATP Live Rankings, but his next opponent is just two places below him and would overtake with win in QF, so it looks like Jay will only actually achieve a new CH if he beats Karlovskiy
Mike C reporting Dan Es game with King as high quality encounter with v few free points.
Dan had 3 set points in 12th game. As set went on he was increasingly dominant on Kings 2nd serve and had won 10/16 on King 2nd serve in 2nd set. King couldnt find a 1st serve throughout 12th game but frustratingly saved 3 set points all with 2nd serves!!
No LS, so no idea what happened on them- whether it was great play or luck or whatever, but that was the match right there, I reckon.
So now Jay carries the hopes of a nation on his shoulders in rainy Binghamton for this week. Keep going lad !!

Ah yes, interesting re the respective live rankings and sneaky of Karlovskiy to also be bringing 15 points into play from being runner-up in last week's USA F19B for I had been thinking that that was some jump from his current WR 250.
Well, Lloyd G put him in his place 7-6(2) 7-6(1) in that final though I see that that is the Russian's only defeat in a 16-1 record over the last 4 weeks ( won USA F19, won Winnetka Challenger, RU USA F19B, QF here ).
Anyway, your turn now, Jay.
PS: I see that while openerarankings has them on the same points as live-tennis, so Karlovskiy would certainly overtake Jay with a win, the former has them live ranked 215 & 217 rather than 217 & 219. Both sites show quite a number of players that could still overtake both players.
