That was a lot closer than I expected it to be. Has anyone any info of whether Dan played badly, Alex played well etc?

Just realised this tournament was won by Cam last year and Kyle in 2015, so hopefully will continue as happy hunting ground for Brits here.

Shame for Alex meeting the underranked Dan in first round. But Dans won against higher ranked players than King since his comeback, so he stands a good chance against King.

Andy has won it as well, in 2005. Brits have won the doubles title too (Dan Cox and Smethurst)

Dont know why you expected it to be much more one sided, Alex is no mug, though often seems to be a slow starter. Dan dominant on serve but found Alex tough to break in second set and then having broken for *5-4, gave away only break points in entire match to get pegged back. Didnt see the game so cant comment on the level but 2&6 isnt miles away from what Id expect.

Will be interesting to see how he responds to two matches in a day, but I hope hell have enough to beat King.

Only problem I am having is that Jay lost that set 6-3.

He had two BPs in the final game. The first, Giron hit a remarkable smash winner from miles behind the baseline but on the second, Jay missed an easy put away off a short ball. On such fine margins ...............

Still time to fight back though Jay. Vamos.

Because Dan showed in the grass season that he was hitting top 100 if not top 50 form when he wasn't burnt out. So just rankings wise, and it's nice to know how matches are won or lost. Scores rarely give straightforward answer.

A break for Jay *3-1 in the second.
Dan's match is up on LS.

Now 4-2. A rather portly line judge just reported Jay's coach for allegedly saying''keep on doing what you're doing''.Jay was issued a warning[at 4-1].His opponent then served out for a love game.

My screen says there's an MTO, but I'm not sure who it's for (looks like the person sitting the further side of the umpire from the camera. I've obviously not been paying close enough attention to remember who it is!!)

edit - it must have been for Giron - he's the far side.
