I agree Bob. As well as talent he displays an ability to fight back when on the ropes. But also hes humble and hungry enough to continue want to learn.
Lots of fun, for everyone but the Aussie contingent
NB reading an old article about how Jay raised £24k on crowd funding a couple of years ago - that's a serious amount of money - wonder how he managed it.....congrats to him.
Carril has really done some brilliant work with Jay, huge benefits.
PS the article, in French, is SO SO critical of the LTA - describing Jay as being the best hope and yet completely left out in the cold etc. etc.
But, as Jay says, effectively, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger - and he's come through it in style.
Allez, Jay !
Do you have a link to this (is it in his individual thread?)
That's a fantastic win from Jay, and yes he really seems to be maturing as a player now. His ranking has only moved up imperceptibly so far this year, but now he is going to jump suddenly into the top 200 for the first time, all the way to around 175 in the rankings, and yes, he will pass Liam and become GB #3. Liam is currently 191 in the live rankings.
Edit: Snap with Bob on the rankings, and Helen for that matter.

Thanks all - great for Jay and hopefully Liam will get his mojo back and Evo will be in the top 200 by the end of the year as well; Andy as well. Nice wee contingent we will have.
Didn't matter though. We have a Champion folks. I from what I have seen, I don't just mean this week. Jay is looking more and more a top class player everytime I watch him play.
Congrats to him and the whole "Clarke Clique" team.
Totally agree with this, BiS. Saw him at Wimby qualies last year and the improvement in his game (which was pretty good last year) is huge. If you think back to his previous Chally Final in Bangalore, you could say he rode his luck a bit with the draw, not this week, he's beaten the #1 and #2 seeds, he's lost the first set three matches out of five, he's come back from 0-4 in 2nd set tie break, he really hasshown great fight, and whilst he still occasionally has a tendency to be a little passive on big points he also won a lot of important points with big winners.
He seems so grounded, and keen to learn, and I think we are right to be excited by what he can achieve.
As I guess has been said elsewhere- Murray, Edmund and Norrie have all won this tournament before and all of them were within Top 100 within a year, I now expect Jay to follow that trajectory.
Fantastic win, beating a fairly decent field. Top 200 as a teenager (almost), Kyle only did it by a couple of weeks! So much time to get improve it will be fun watching him transition to the main tour.

Yes Toby, I was thinking just how much Jay's game has come on since Bangalore last year and around that time, and that is in general so would have been irrespective of this final result.
Had to miss the final set and just back on in the early hours so great to see the result
