Interesting Luke taking on these 3 weeks of Canadian Challengers, singles qualifying plus doubles main draw, although he didn't get into the doubles last week.
I am not sure what priority he currently feels his singles is against his doubles where he is a fair bit higher ranked. I know some will hope his singles is still a very big priority, and he is due back this side of the pond next week for the Ireland 25K futures.
Anyway this looks to be his first challenger MD doubles win and the 17 points should see him take out his doubles CH 353 from February. He is currently ranked GB #13 in doubles.

I am wondering if he is thinking along the same lines as Billy with regard to playing Challenger Qualies. Billy will be playing several over the coming weeks. His strategy is based around the new points system. All of Billy's points have come from ITF tournaments and he has yet to make a final of a 25k. Consequently when the new points system kicks in at the start of 2019, he will have ZERO ATP points and will be left with only ITF points.
As has been pointed out in another thread, unless the players make the final of a 25k, the only way to obtain ATP points is through Challengers or above. I think we may see several players attempting Challengers in the 2nd half of the year that wouldn't otherwise have done so.
To be honest, that sounds very sensible. As said several times, there's no money in playing the ITFs, and the French player I always quote said that the thing that most ITF players regret when they don't make it and finally quit is that they never really gave Challengers a go, always thinking I'l just try for a few more points first, and always end up feeling like 'what if'....
On a different note, the top ten predictions are going to be blinkin' difficult next year ! And Lord knows who's going to keep track of points coming off, points to defend etc.....
Though to be honest I've had hardly any go yet at really getting to grips with much of it all.
It's one of those those things that since I do like following rankings and indeed looking ahead that I will have to get my head round sometime, but for now it's pretty much on the back burner.
