Week 30 - Lithuania F1 ($15,000) - Vilnius (clay)

Very pleased about that one. Paul's only 18. Rate him.

Two singles win. A doubles win. The GB lads are doing good.....

Thrilled !

And he now gets either a wildcard or a qualifier, as the qualifier put out the 4th seed in a third-set tie-break.

Allez, Paul !

And Samm gets the first set in a tie-break too.....

Not an unpredictable result, Paul was our best college player last year, leading a weaker but improving programme in the strongest conference. Week in week out he was up against the best college players and holding his own in the number one slot. Thats 15K standard just hidden as it is in the SEC

Not dissimilar to Edens progress at LSU, although they have recruited arguably the best freshman in a very strong group recruited this year so despite doing so well this she may slip to No 2.

Thanks Oakland, thats very interesting. I hadnt heard of Paul so its helpful to hear how hes progressing. How does that level (you say its a weaker team) compare to that of, say, Cam, when he was a college student?

Part of what has always attracted me to Paul Jubb is his story.

He lost his parents when a small child, was brought up by his grandma on a council estate in Hull, has never had the means of other players, has had to rely on receiving heavily subsidised lessons, (the Yorkshire LTA were very helpful, I believe), the help of other parents for travel, and - especially - very dedicated and caring coaches.

With a background like that, he's an amazingly humble and hard-working lad - and plays a super game of tennis.

In anyone deserves to do well, he does.

PS Most of this is all on a public website so I don't think it's giving out private information.

Thank you.  It is good to hear interesting facts.  I will now be extra pleased when he wins!
