Not a very good stream (for me anyway), low definition, jumpy and the sound out of sync. Looks very hot there (supposedly 34C). And I don't like the blue carpet court !
Matches her seeding, useful points from this tidy bit of scheduling.
This equals Sarah Beth's best $25K result. Three times in the last twelve months she has made QF at this level, but never managed to progress the extra round.
Despite the weak draw, it won't be easy to progress here either as the top seed (Reix, who was so stroppy in that Australian final against Gabi in March) or Greet Minnen awaits.
Only just realising that Sarah Beth has not yet actually made any final at any level in a pro event. Let's get through the QF before we worry about that for this week though.
Reix wins through to face Sarah Beth.
I watched most of the final two sets of Reix/Minnen, and the Frenchwoman again doesn't seem to have much to her game, but she continues to get results nonetheless.
If Ms. Grey can play well though, I give her an outside chance for the upset.
Beth and her doubles partner for the week, Laura-Ioana Andrei, unfortunately lost in their first match together, in the QF 6-7(7) 4-6
I saw the second set, and although they were competitive, it showed that they hadn't played together before. If they'd had an earler round they might have had more time to gell as a pair.
Haven't seen Beth play this well for a while, really going for it. All square at 1-6 6-1
(And Reix again failed to break her racket, despite hurling it harder this time)
