And against a local, home, wildcard pair too - Wow !

(I even feel a little sad for the Hungarian girls.....cry)

But not VERY sad....smile

Soumeya ANANE is shooting up the doubles rankings. In with a chance of a second 15K doubles after her win in Bucharest. biggrin

The great thing about Soumeya (from when I saw her) is that she laughs all the time she plays - laughs when she does well, laughs AT herself when she messes up, just laughs, it's very infectious biggrin

Even some old report from 2014 in the Coventry Telegraph about county tennis reports her captain saying:

They [Soumeya and partner] play with a smile on their faces and never give up, even against much more experienced opposition".

And I note she never played any junior tennis (one competition) so did very well to get into a US college programme, and then to start jumping up the doubles rankings.

I must admit I'm really beginning to love this pair. Soumeya may not have a singles ranking, but my goodness these two are casting everybody aside in the doubles. (I note that Julia has reached the SF of the singles too as a qualifier)

F: Anane/Kimmelmann (GBR/GER) 1874 beat Cadar/Ene (ROU/ROU) [1] 1185 6-3 6-2  biggrinbiggrin

Yes Soumeya is great fun. A real enthusiast who plays marvellously effective and aggressive doubles. Also a great advert for US College tennis as are Alicia and Tiffany. Players given zero support from the LTA but racing up their respective rankings!

Another week another Title - since getting 9pts at Obidos in June and 2 x4 in Romania she hasn't looked back. All her other counters are 1pt.

And when they came back to win 11-9 Julia had been on court for over 5 hrs today - in the end 3hrs 30 + 1 hrs 44 = 5hrs 14 mins!!

So their recent record together is now 11-2, with 1 more match to come this week, and even if against the top seeds, Ema Lazic and her partner only lost narrowly against them in the QF.

It wasn't Julia that Soumeya won last week's Romania 15K title with but Elaine Genovese.

So yes, Soumeya's recent record is now 12-2, but 8-2 with Julia and 4-0 with Elaine.

Ah yes, this record consists of 4 tournaments of which she's partnered Julia in 3 and then Elaine in the penultimate.
