Week 29 - Challenger ($75,000) Banque Nationale de Gatineau, Gatineau (hard)

Luke Johnson has come in as an alt to qualifying, taking what was the top seed's spot since he has been moved into the main draw.

QR1: (Alt) Luke Johnson WR 817 vs Takanyi Garanganga (ZIM) WR 456 (CH 288 in September 2014).

Liam will hopefully be in the main draw,

As per the draw sheet on the ATP app, Tokuda is the original q1 seed (WR 337) who has been moved to the main draw.

Luke would be better playing US 25k tournaments to get his ranking up.

Alex made all the running in the first half of the set but couldn't take his chances and then ended up losing the set 4-6

Frustrating defeat for Alex, who didn't attack with anything like the conviction he showed against Liam Broady at Nottingham.

Should have been 2-1 up after three points in tie break, but was 3-0 down, lost first and third points from on top, and never recovered. Good chasing by Li, but Alex lacked the conviction to really put away shots when on top in the rally.

He had however twice broken straight back when behind, Li broke at 2-2 and at 4-4 and Alex broke back both times including when Li served for the match.

I only watched bits of the match but Alex seemed very flat. He normally hits the ball a lot more crisply than he did today.
