Just to categorically tie up the loose end: Alicia's result confirmed as 7-5 6-4 Her second best ever rankings win - her top two in that regard have now both come in the last six weeks A chance to improve it even further in the next round.
Lissey will drop a few places this week, as she is -2 for the week (gains 5pts for last week, but loses 7 pts for a 15k final), but when these points go on next week she will break into the top 600 at a CH position. To progress further this week she will definitely need a CH win.
[...] I presume Arina is not so heavily favoured by bookies because they realise she might have spent any given preceding night having to deal with her sister in some shape or form, and might have had a less than restful sleep.
Arina's sister is Anastasia. Anastasia has a famously volcanic temper. Arina often has to make best peace in her sisters wake in detriment to her own schedule. For example, the infamous occasion when Poots met the Anastasia Rodionova, and Anastasia was in poisonous form. A prime but far from isolated example of Anastasia's antics negatively impacting her sisters itinerary.
Rats! Got it to the TB, but just edged out, 1-6 6-7(4)
Jodie is next up on the same court.
Sadly Sam served 13 DFs in that deciding set, including 2 in the TB. Sam was also 3-0 up in the second set, then got broken serving 2 DFs in a row, though admittedly after that game there were no more breaks of serve in the set. A much better performance anyway in that set, but Sam will be disappointed not to have taken it to a decider.
A good win against 2 former top 110 players in both singles and doubles.
