Leduc holds to 30 and wins the final set 7-5 and Freya goes out.
As little as I know, Leduc may well be a talented college grad with an exciting future, but that has to be put down as another terrible result in this slump. She's 25 and ranked just inside the top 900 and some of her recent results have been Freya-esq with many early exits - so therefore one can assume she's not a big prospect.
Not good, especially after being 5-1 up and then taking the fist set.
I'm gutted for Freya. She desperately needed that win and came so close. I wish I knew what's gone wrong for her. Is she still with Mark Taylor?
Not sure. She seemed to have Colin Beecher watching her at Surbiton, which would make sense if she's still at JTC which I thought she was. Not sure though.
Yeah, if only one of the 4 could progress then I think I'd have rather it was Freya. Said it before but she'll be looking at that current crop like Dart and Dunne and thinking (from her perspective) that she should really be on par with them and certainly not 400-500 places below in the rankings.
She was in the top 300 before her injury nightmare but it's just been a terrible 2018 and there's no current sign of improvement and she'll be watching the young group (as well as Naomi and Heather) in US Open qualies (likely 7 Brits overall) and thinking she is a million miles away from that level, which unfortunately, as things stand, she is.
Nice to see Jodie through though, I forget she is still so young herself having just turned 19 the other month. Hopefully she gets a nice draw here (there is a Q vs Q) and continues to climb the rankings.
Edit: Alicia & Erika's WTA player profile pages are defaulted to show their doubles rankings! Changed to new singles rankings. Jodie & Mai default to singles probably the highest number, still stupid.

At one point in her career, the junior (but more talented) of the Sema sisters was 6-1 against Brits.
She's now 6-7, and Alicia is serving to make that 6-8
7-6(5) *5-4
