'Only' a SF in doubles (out [8-10] in the MTB, having also saved 7 MP in their R16 match), but welcome progress in singles after a drought. She's not 19 until September, but there seems to be a general perception as though there is already pressure on to get results, that she needs to get moving. Whether due to her scholarship/sponsorship arrangements, or elsewise. Or maybe that's just me misreading things (again).
Think maybe also Emily having backed out of the US college route that I think many expected her to follow in order to turn pro.
She probably had more choices available than many and I hope it works out in time. As you say not 19 yet.
Though I see from her ITF profile that she was WR 700 at the end of the 2016 season ( quite soon after her 17th birthday ).
I thought that she looked to be pushing on a bit again earlier this year after really lacking notable results last year. But perhaps stalled a bit again of late.

I think the Sky scholarship puts huge pressure on Emily, especially as they keep publishing articles/ blogs on her 'progress'. She's also had a run of especially poor results losing to much lower ranked players. Yes, she is only 19, but she chose to turn pro rather than go to college, and it will take some of the pressure off her if she can have a good run here. And if she can relax a bit, she will probably improve more easily.
Maybe we assume she's under a lot of pressure (due to decision not to take up the US college place, and the Sky Sports Scholarship thingy) and it's just an assumption.
I've certainly never seen any sign of it (although maybe why would I, as just a spectator).
At Surbiton, for instance, the frustration and expectation seemed to weigh heavily on Freya.
But Emily App seemed to be really enjoying her tennis and having fun on the court, even when losing.
And the scholarship lasts 4 years, I believe, so hers doesn't expire until 2020 (she's down as the class of 2016).
So maybe no immediate pressure.
However, it's true, the Sky Scholarship only has 12 athletes, from all sports, and she's the only female tennis player - Altmaier is the only other tennis player but he's got to WR 210 (although now slipped back a way, and a year older, but a bloke), which doesn't compare well to Emily even from the start.
And they are put out there as: 'Europe's most promising young athletes'. Hard to really think that Emily App is (or was ever) Europe's most promising 17 year-old tennis player......
I've never got very excited about Emily Appleton's tennis but I think she's a very smart girl, with a good team around her, who's made a lot of progress, and I doubt she's making herself ill from worry.
