Ive been prattling on for years about the elitism in British Tennis years now, seems you are all starting to finally agree with me now. A certain poster or two on here however will be noted by his absence on here obviously which is understandable I suppose.
Be interesting to see what happens next year though when all the changes come into play.
Jaggy, I don't think it's that we are 'finally' starting to agree with you.
Although if we do all agree, that's fine and dandy
I think you'll find that many (certainly me, but also others) have been moaning about the elitism in the UK for many a year.....
I'm sure I've been pretty boring on the subject MANY times about how the elitism is nowhere near such a problem in France, and the positive effects this has.
It's the last two years in particular when they have got rid of all the women's 15ks that the elitist short sightedness seems particularly to have kicked in, and the foundations of the professional pyramid have just been kicked away. It will be interesting to see as Jaggy notes, what kind of changes occur with the introduction of next year's transition tour.
Yes, the LTA are so ahead of their time in such as reducing the number of professional players, particularly on the women's side but also certainly with the men too
So much uncertainty about how things will further unfold with such as the GB tournament schedule from next year on.
GB's entry into next week's tournaments looks odd. Our top nine players are missing. There are 4 entries in Main draws, 9 in the Qualifying tournaments and 10 Alternate entries. These are spread across 10 of the 13 ITF tournament on offer.
With all those peripatetic Qs and Alts it looks as if this could have been a good week to run a $15K in the UK

Players moving in to positions for extended stays in new locations after grass, and we swing in to hard courts again? The big US events that our better may will aspire to this year would fit that schedule, and after all playing a lot of weeks and matches throughout grass season, the extra weeks recuperation seems propitious?
Super week for Tiffany just getting on with making the best she can of what she has and winning matches. Keep it up

And indeed in the two weeks that follow there are two UK 25ks scheduled where most of the British entrants reside in the extended alt lists. A few 15ks would certainly be of more value to them.

A few numbers to illustrate the points made. At Woking, 38 of the first 50 alts are Brits following withdrawals. The following week the entry list at Chiswick is slightly weaker (eg Ella Taylor starts at A98 instead of A125 at Woking, where she has just made qualifying after withdrawals) - there are some 55 British girls below her with at least a national ranking.
Kate Fahey is a strong college player (UMichigan) and is looking the part at the moment
After 12 minutes, Tiffany has only won a point per game, and is 0-4*
