Currently watching Katie playing on the Progress Tour. Haven't got the sound on so not sure if this has been answered.
Anyone know when Katie's protected ranking will expire, or will it be so many months after the resumption of the tour ?
Headline in the Daily Mail says Katie Boulter not playing in US Open even if it goes ahead She has a protected ranking of 85. Also says Jo's participation is also far from certain.
Not 100% sure but it looks as though she has 3 years or 12 tournaments, a lot more generous than the mens, I assumed the change would ony apply to maternity breaks but it looks as though its injuries aswell.
Portrays Katie in a very nice light, and I didn't know she was such good mates with Laura Robson and the two were flat-sharing during lockdown - the caramel shortbread binges sound wonderful, if deadly :)
Katie entered the W60+ and the W80 tournaments in France starting on 7th and 14th September, but has withdrawn from both, as well as some W25's for the same weeks. So injury is a distinct possibility.

Didn't she get criticised last year for going to Roland Garros, collecting the cheque and then immediately withdrawing?
If she is injured it can't be that serious, as she is still entering tournaments. She's on all four ITF entry lists for w/c 12/10 - and the withdrawal deadline was today. But the computer hasn't done it's stuff yet and still waiting for the automatic withdrawals to happen.
It has to be said that we haven't had a lot of luck over the years with some of our brightest female prospects what with Katie, Robbo, Deano and going much further back Annabel Croft, Sue Mccarthy and Sarah Loosemore. All showed great promise before either falling victim to injury or illness or becoming disillusioned with tour life.

It has to be said that we haven't had a lot of luck over the years with some of our brightest female prospects what with Katie, Robbie, Deano and going much further back Annabel Croft, Sue Mccarthy and Sarah Loosemore. All showed great promise before either falling victim to injury or illness or becoming disillusioned with tour life.
