Katie Boulter @katiecboulter ˇ 2h Hi. Little update from me After injuring my foot in Indian Wells, annoyingly Im having to take a little time off to look after it. Itching to be back already See you soon on the clay
Thanks for the update CD. Not ideal with her having been heading in the right direction rankings wise, but could have been worse I suppose.
Just to bring this up to date, the day after Katie scored an epic win, on Centre Court at Wimbledon, in three sets, over Pliskova, last year's finalist.
Brilliant match. High-level tennis from both. And an excellent second-round win (having beaten Burel in R1)
Lots of articles about her family, her boyfriend (de Minaur), her chronic fatigue syndrome and back injury, etc etc:
How old was she when she initially got diagnosed. Adolescents tend to have better outcomes. I've known 4 children/adolescents with ME/CFS including my Son and all of them recovered but my cousin who was diagnosed in her 30's has deteriorated.
The only residual issue for my Son is that if he does get ill, his glands immediately swell up but other than that he can play sport (granted not at a professional level) without any repercussions
As Indy rightly says above, and as per steven too:
"Todays win makes @katiecboulter live GB no. 1 in the mid-120s, though @Katieswan99 still has a chance of edging her by 3 points if KS wins the title and KB doesnt make the final. Either way, hopefully theyll both be in/back in the top 100 before too long!"
If Katie B wins the title it looks like she will be back ranked right near the top 100. It's good today to see on the live rankings that we have 5 British women all in the world's top 150. So close to bigger things if they could just break through that next barrier.
