Weeks 27 & 28 - The Championships, Wimbledon - women's singles (grass)

Just seen the draw and wow, our Brits really have got mixed luck.

Dunne v Ostapenko

Broady v Murguruza

Dart v Pliskova

Watson v Flipkens

Swan v Begu

Taylor v Bouchard

Boulter v Cepede Royo

Konta v Vikhlyantseva

I think the first three look almost impossible as Pliskova, Ostapenko and Murguruza are such good players, but Katie B, Heather and Jo will be really pleased with their draws. Gabi and Katie Swan have a chance too I think. Some fantastic match ups - can't wait to see them on court next week - hope they aren't all playing at the same time - a lot in the top half, so many more will be on Tuesday because of that.

I am hoping Garbine retains her title and yes I can't see Naomi doing anything against her

Naomi hasn't played in a few weeks either could be a brutal pasting. Grim.

How many Brits does everyone think we will have in Round Two? I'll guess at three (and be disappointed if it less than that).

Often in previous years, there have been just one or two, but I think we will have at least three - Katie B is on such good form that I can't see her losing to Cepede Royg and Jo looks certain to come through. I feel that Heather and Gabi have at least 50% chances against Flipkens and Bouchard - home advantage and the crowd cheering you on is a big thing, so hopefully at least one of them can progress - don't think people should be fooled by Bouchard's current ranking though, as she is better than that. Katie Swan is a long shot but Begu has gone out in the first round here 4 times out of seven attempts and has only made the third round once, so you just never know and I'd give her at least a 20% chance of winning - it would be a huge boost to her career if she could beat Begu, or at least run her close.

Anyway surprisingly quiet on this bit of the forum, what does everyone think (or are you all just watching the football at the moment!).

On grass, I think Flipkens will have too much for Heather, she has such a good game for the surface - remember she made the Wimbledon semi-finals back in 2013.

Bouchard really seemed to be getting on a roll and playing some good game in qualies. She hasn't played well for a while but with momentum on her side, a former Wimbledon finalist is always a tough draw. May have too much for Gabi.

I think Konta and Boulter will win.

Shame Harriet has Pliskova first round, she's had such a good grass season.

I think we'll get one, Jo.

That way I can be only be pleasantly happy if we get more.

(I have 50p on Harriet, too, but I don't expect her to win, just coz the odds were/are nicely high and they will come in if, at least, she starts well).

I'll go 3. Jo, Katie B and one more, not necessarily Heather or Gabi, who I'd make both as underdogs.

Pretty amazing that a relatively small and not rich country like Romania has 8 women in the main draw.

France only has 4, as does Australia, and China 5.

Well done to them - was impressed by young Ruse.

I reckon 2, Jo and another, probably Katie B. I reckon in order:

Jo
Boulter
Watson
Swan
Taylor
Dart
Broady
Dunne

Harriet is first on court 12 (surprised she isn't on 2 or 3)
Katie S is third on ct 14
