Wow, briliant performance again from Katie B, and she has really stepped up this week. The final should be really interesting now.... Win it, she will still be just behind Heather in the rankings, with a mere 18 pt gap (currently 78). With her R32 points coming off, Heather is likely to have to win two more rounds at Wimbledon this year if she is to remain GB#2, so that might well be where Katie is in 3 weeks. A real sea change now happening in the GB women's rankings.
Another great win. Ive said before that Ive got a real soft spot for Katie after her year off with injury/illness. She was so lovely on twitter towards the other British girls and clearly desperate to get back on court. Lovely to see her doing well at home! Im sure she had great support.

She actually had a relatively slow start to the year with highlight wins being a couple over Taylor Townsend in February and March ( in Miami qualifying ). And while it was good to get Fed Cup experience it clearly rather altered her Australian itinerary plans.
But then from April on she has been increasingly on fire and in openerarankings at least has sneaked into the live top 100 in the race.
16/04 : WR 196 on 277 points. Race 249 on 59 points.
Provisional live 02/07 with a possible 60 more points for winning the final : WR 122 on 499 points, race 100 on 375 points ( live-tennis has her race 101 on 376 points ).
Tournaments from April on include : 25K title 60K title 100K QF WTA Int. QF 100K+H final to play
