I thought Maia would do better against Ankita Raina, but she is also a set down 2-6. Is this Maia's first match on grass? She certainly hasn't played much on it, since she started the first two weeks of the grass season on the 'carpet' of Obidos.
Emma keeps failing to take BPs. She's had plenty of them, but has failed so far to take advantage of them.

Maia I don't think played any grass coming into this tournament -last year she won a set off a higher ranked player

She played R1 in Ilkley last week but drew a very short straw with Kaia Kanepi. Lost 6-3 6-2
Interesting stats from Emmas match. Similar first serve % won. Emma actually has higher second serve %. But lower on the break points converted (and possibly on % of first serves in?). But pretty good effort!
Yes indeed for Holly, seems privilege and knowing the right people got her this place. But we shouldnt be surprised with the British Tennis aristocracy now should we. A complete waste of everyones time with that QWC.
Edited to add on the other hand Fran is a different story and worthy of a shot all things considered, seems to have a given a good account against a top 100 ability player like Gibbs.

The Holly choice, following the men's ( boys ) is very much more about she is seen as a possible top senior in the years to come as against those older players who no longer are and probably keeping her and her family sweet re representing GB. Not everything is about privilege / aristocracy / Tories etc !
Keeping her family sweet is kind of the same thing. I think the point is valid. Emma and Fran are valid Wild Cards as they are showing early promise on the main tour, the fact we have to try and keep people sweet because of who they are or what country they may go to isnt right. So ironically rather than what you suggest this is a political decision from Viscount Toff Henman and his pals in my opinion.
Tara lost 6-4 6-2 so 0/7 for our wildcards judging by some of the scorelines difficult day for our wild cards but Emma Raduncanu seems to have done well -only one to win a set.
Was very impressed by Fran Jones ... very good match. She worked really hard and had
her chances. Also Emma impressed too. The heat played a part and from mid 2nd set onwards she had the trainer working on her right shoulder. Feel the heat sapped her energy in the end. Only her 5th tournament and only 15. Holly was out of her depth.
