Not much sign of Naomi returning to the top 100 any time soon. She trails Vlhlyantseva WR105 by 6-3 5-2 and has to serve to stay in the match
I wouldn't be surprised if she gets overtaken by 3 or 4 of the others over the course of the next few weeks. If only she was still working with Fitzmeister....
Actually, I believe Katie B can overtake her this week if she wins one match at Southsea. Naomi is dropping points (although she has some smaller counters in reserve) but live rankings are showing just 14 points between them, with Katie looking at 28 for a win. Others may well catch up, but will probably need a win at Wimbledon as they have over 100 points to catch up.
I agree with what has been said. Due to Naomi's bad grass season thus far, I see her down near the 200's soon and the group of Katie B, Gabby, Harriet, Katy D and Katie S are rising, rising, rising. I can see most of them top 150 before the end of the year.
Forecast from live rankings for the end of July (i.e. with points dropped, but nothing added back)
Naomi WR129 396 points (drops 74 points)
Katie B WR131 388 points
Gabi WR 163 312 points
Harriet WR170 301 points
Katie S WR189 263 points
Katy D WR196 245 points (includes yesterday's win)
A few wins from any of them in the next three weeks, and it could make a big difference.
Interesting. Certainly all close in the race and great to have so many many so high about half way through the year. Heather and Gabi's points are more early doors while Katie B and Harriet have been storming along of late. Be a brave man or woman to call the end of year order.
If I'm reading it correctly (and I might not be), Jo has a bye, Harriet has a Q/LL, Katie S has Danielle Collins and Heather has Mladenovic, a player who is in as poor a form as Heather herself.
