This is as close as we get to a real British Championships. Dan vs Marcus round 2 might be interesting. Why are there so many wildcards? I think Brydan might come through the bottom half.

It's hard to look beyond Dan at the top, but bottom is more open. I have a sneak feel it will be Luke bambridge or a non seed that may creep through

I can't see any timings? Do they come up later, or do we just have to wait and see? I hope Marcus doesn't play a blinder because I really want Dan to stick it to them, and I feel Marcus made that great opportunity for himself and then never made anything of it.

I was surprised that they didn't publish the order of play at the same time as the draw, but I will keep an eye out for any updates.

Yes, I feel this has a championship feel about it.

Two wildcards (in theory) come from the British Tour events  (one from the leaderboard and one from winning North Oxford)

That's how Patrick Foley has his.

Although those two are often unused (i.e. they are won by people who qualify anyway), it seems reasonable that the LTA keep themselves two other wildcard places.

Brydan was playing decently at Surbiton, I agree. But I was impressed by Bambo. (Ed is a decent too, and Lloyd played one super match) Which is sort of naming everyone smile

Saw a bit of Marcus playing doubles the other day, and I really DON'T rate his chances. Doesn't look anything like fit enough to play singles. Unless he hits his spots on serve, I'd expect Dan to take him to the bakers.

But I'm expecting some close matches in the bottom half - Ed is going to have to play well to get through this section. Going to be tight between the top four here.

Such a pity that it is closed to the public - just coaches and guests allowed entry.

I can't get the leader board up this morning but when I last looked about a week ago Mason Recci was top and I wondered why he wasn't here?  I assume Foley was second?

Yes, that's what I saw yesterday when I checked. So I'm assuming Mason didn't want it, for one reason or another, and it dropped down to Patrick.

Cant see past Dan for the top section. Fancy Luke in the bottom half.

Thanks Coup Droit I assume that's the situation, I would have liked to see Mason here but never mind.

Surely this has to be the strongest line up for play offs in recent years?

Yes 2 WCs ( in theory ) for the British Tour but also 4 others, making 6 in all, which is normal.

Usually the others go to up and coming juniors but they rather gave them Q WCs this year so have more just carried on down the rankings list with Pauffley through to Stoute being 5 of the next 7 in the rankings, just missing Gabb and Peniston ( in addition to Storrie and Golding not taking direct entrant places ).

So with just Foley outside the top 27 it is a stronger, more experienced looking draw than usual even ignoring Dan's ludicrous addition.
