Dan will have been given the nod privately that he's at least for q qwc for wimbledon and therefore can play one of Queens or ilkley next week. I suspect they'll see how this week goes before deciding which he plays next week. If he does really well and gets to a challenger final, precedent says they'll upgrade that to a Main draw wc for wimbledon. Wardy is suspect is equally in the balance although I think md wc more likely. But for Queens / ilkley I suspect they'll leave as late as they can this week to decide
I'm not so sure given the report in the Fail where he said he still doesn't know anything. Hopefully he does now, but I'm not that certain.
I think he will by now, Re at least a qwc, but told to keep quiet. He and ilkley and Queens all need to plan, and I think at this stage they'll know a qwc at least is deserving.
So if he can get entry into Queens or Ilkley, he'd have to vut the week short if he isn't given a WC of some description?
I'm told that players that are due to be in WC play-offs are told that if they are still in Ilkley by the Wednesday that they'd get a QWC for Wimby.
But isn't this exactly what we had with Sam Murray a couple of years back and she never was given the QWC?
Really?
I asked Neil Pauffs about this on Saturday and that was his expectation, and maybe thats changed since Sam's event, or maybe he's under a misapprehension.
Personally, can't see we've got enough too many to give out so would be crazy not to give one to a player who's come thru Ilkley Qualies and possibly won two rounds too.
For US Open he'd need to be around say WR110/490 points for main draw, and WR220/260 points for qualifying. Well he has 73 points already, so it won't take many wins to accumulate another 200, and the way he is playing right now he could easily get a lot more. I really hope he gets a WC or QWC and plays Ilkley rather than Queens where he can get more match practice rather than what will inevitably a tough draw at Queens with such a strong field.
I think I'm right in saying that the entry cut date for GS inc qualifying is 6 weeks before the event starts, so Dan doesn't have loads of time to to win the couple of hundred points he needs. A tournament victory here or in Ilkley would make most people confident that he'd do it.
If he receives a mwc instead of a qwc for Wimbledon, I wonder if Eastbourne would offer him one as well? He is certainly a draw for the tennis cognoscenti, but I'm sure politics will be more important than that. I think the tournament the week before a GS often offers lower ranked players relatively easy points as many players have their focus on the slam.
Whatever happens, he'll need a few weeks off after Wimbledon to recharge his batteries.
The entry cut-off date for Slam MDs is 6 weeks before the MD draw starts but it is 4 weeks for qualifying so an extra 2 weeks to accumulate points towards that.

Who is he? Has he got the authority to speak for the LTA? I only remember his as a lowly ranked player.
