There were two GB wildcards last year. No-one got in direct as the likes of Heather played Eastbourne.
It was designed as a warm up for Wimbledon, for those who wanted game time, but less competitive than Eastbourne which is normally loaded.

I remember it being an anomaly last year too. Seems strange really that they have persisted with the 16 only entrant list... I'd have thought they could have pushed it up to 32, especially as no qualifying. The LTA seem to really waste some of these 100ks... and then cannot be bothered to put on any smaller events that would cater for the up and comings.
Presumably with wild cards allocated now, the Eastbourne and Southsea wild cards will become clearer. Presumably Liam and Jay will get into Eastbourne with Andy also a possibility among British men?
Anyone any insights on the wildcards on the ladies side? Presumably the six directly into Wimbledon as wild cards plus Heather will carve them up in some way? Heather to Eastbourne no doubt.
With Harriet now making the QF's in Ilkley, and not getting the WTA experience Katie B, Katie S and Gaby did in Nottingham and Katie B did in Birmingham, I would like to see her get a main draw WC.
But with Gaby still in doubles in llkley and Katie B in Birmingham they might be unable to make Eastbourne qualifying.
2 of them of course might go for the Southsea event.
