Regarding the discussion with the umpire during the Clarke/Willis game. I think the ballgirl out of shot(of the camera)was still running and Jay assumed a let would be called by the umpire.
Yes that was my impression too. But then i think the umpire said that Jay carried on playing, so he wasnt going to play a let? Thats what I thought happened but someone else may have heard more clearly. Then there were some other disputed decisions and Marcus was muttering with the crowd about it all being a conspiracy....
Apart from all that there was some lovely tennis. Marcus did two stunning topspin lobs that Andy would have been proud of, together with a couple of delightful stop volleys. And Jay did some lovely returns of serve. Sadly they just couldnt pull it off in the match tiebreak because they really are a pleasure to watch.
No doubt Steven will fill us in on the highlights later
I think I must have been off the court for the argument but I saw the last third of the match and it was very entertaining - Hewitt still as fierily competitive as ever (lots of people swarmed him after he came off court while some of us watched the end of TaCo v Ankita & Emily) and some cool shots from both Jay and Marcus. The Aussies managed to turn up the heat just enough at the end, unfortunately.

Joe+ had 1/7 BPs vs 1/2 ( 0/5 vs 0/0 in the first set which they lost ) and won quite a few more points overall, 91-81. But Luke & Jonny won what ultimately mattered, the match !
Luke now looking reasonably comfortably into the top 100 for next Monday and Jonny apparently ( yes, I'm looking at the https://live-tennis.eu/en/atp-doubles-live-ranking site, which is not doing too well with for instance our women singles players just now ) one more win from the top 100 himself.

Agree with indiana though unlike with singles, I'm relying solely on others' efforts and the live rankings page here, which implies Jonny is virtual WR 100 and only Bolt can overtake. If the Skupskis don't win, it looks like it'll be Jonny+ v Bolt+ in the final for a place in the top 100, which could be even more exciting but obviously I'd rather the Skupskis (now 6-3 6-6) won today!
