That result alone should lift Soumeya about 200 places and into the top 1000 doubles. It doubles her current points tally and is her first counter that is more than 1 point.
Great for Soumeya! She is such a doubles enthusiast and has had lots of bad luck with not getting into events recently. I think she and her partner could go a long way in this event!
Yes, Maia got taken out completely in the second set, she won only 1 more point 6 in all, to lose it 0-6. Imagine her opponent stepped up a few gears there, so hope Maia herself can find one or two more the final set. Promising junior or not, Maia should be beating Gabriella.. and she has started the final set much more positively and thankfully has not just held her first serve for a while, but broken too. Now need to keep going Maia!
Maia won eventually next serve round. A helpful 5 pts to start Gabriella will be ruing the fact that she won on points 75-71 but lost the match relatively easily in the end.
