One name missing from everywhere at the moment is Emilie L-G, who still has no status despite her 6 WTA points. It was very disappointing she did not finish the task of getting her third counter here a bit earlier, when she had an opportunity to do so (after withdrawing from Tiberias, where Emma R ended up winning to get her ranking).

She had made the Portugal 25K qualifying list ( actually everyone still left has made qualifying ), but I see withdrew on Wednesday.

Yes, that was in a 25k tournament... She should have stuck with the 15ks until she got the ranking! Obidos this week would have been a better bet than this earlier Spanish tournament.

Must be pretty demoralising that, going all that way, playing a far from spectacular opponent who had lost 5 of her last 6 matches and lost 2 and 0 to Ella last year and barely win a game. She's 23 in a couple of months.

I wouldnt assume too much from what youve said there. I think thats a Jewish surname in Israel, probably suggests not much travelling and if you look at her results I dont really think she can be classed a Tennis pro.

I believe she's English-Polish from the Redditch area, currently taking a year out from med school (Bristol) to play the European circuit. Her twin sister, Monika, is on the Cambridge Uni 1st team and also studying medicine.
