Lloyd really does need to get his act together on the match court asap ( however well he says he's been playing in practice ).
He has 30 Nottingham Challenger QF points coming off on 18/06 and his projected openerarankings ranking for 18/06, allowing for everyone's reductions on 11/06 and 18/06, is #572. Time to replace at least some of these points.
I think Lloyd's been really lucky to get a MDWC considering he's done nothing to justify it. But then favouritism always seems to play a big part! Hope he proves me wrong now.
L32: (1) Jérémy Chardy (FRA) WR 86 (CH = 25 in January 2013 - he's 31) vs Liam Broady WR 164 (CH = 154 in February)
L32: (6) Álex de Miñaur (AUS) WR 105 (= CH) vs (WC) Alex Ward WR 327 (CH = 242 in June 2016)
L32: (WC) Lloyd Glasspool WR 451 (CH = 282 in July 2016) vs Qualifier L32: Alex Bolt (AUS) WR 179 (CH = 160 in March 2015) vs (WC) Jay Clarke WR 224 (CH = 219 in April)
L32: (WC) James Ward WR 403 (CH = 89 in July 2015) vs Sergiy Stakhovsky (UKR) WR 127 (CH = 31 in September 2010 - he's 32)
1 - bad draw
2 - bad draw
3 - bad because Lloyds form is pretty non existent
4 - not great but doable
5 - battle of the old timers but not great for James

Fully expected Brydan to lose that one!

Definitely a good day for the Brits when Ed Corrie can beat Christian Harrison in straight sets & a great win for Jack Molloy!

Think GB wise our men will struggle on grass this year. Kyle cant play on it, Cam not much better and the rest arent up to the required level. We have a number of ITF Plodders and very little Challenger Level guys just now. James and Dan are our best hopes but they will have some tough draws to get points.
The womens on the other hand is different. Can see a pile of points at Challenger and maybe even potentially a few breakthrough wins at WTA level.
A quick look at the draw tells me that we are already guaranteed at least 1 GB qualifier. In the bottom section Evo will play the winner of Neil P vs Alexis (about to start) and then the winner of that will play either Jack Molloy or Ed for a place in the MD.
Edit
So basically similar to what Jaggy has just said.
