Chardy hit a beautiful FH down the line on the run at 30-15 and goes on to take the game and first set 6-4. Not much to choose between the two players, hopefully Evo can start fast in the next set!

But he finds a couple of first serves and then Chardy goes wide. Dan closes out the game and leads 5-4* in the second.

Chardy edges his way to 0-30 and Evo is under pressure. Super point from Dan to get to 15-30 with some slice and dice and a neat FH volley, then a superb forehand up the line behind Chardy to level at 30-30 and a big ALLEZ from Dan. Chardy goes long on the return and a Evo then hits a gorgeous dropshot on game point to lead 6-5*.

Evo betrayed by the net cord and its Chardy with the first mini-break, which he follows up with a well constructed point. Evo down 2-4*

Chardy with a floaty backhand just wide but immediately recaptures the break. *3-5
