Just great to see him back and playing well. Long may it continue.
Yes, and he has prolonged his run each week so far, so his match fitness is growing - 2 matches won in Glasgow I think, then 4 in Loughborough, and now 5 already so far here in Surbiton.
I watched most of the 2nd set on the live stream. Dan never looked troubled, won all his service games with ease and got into most of M&M's. M&M served an absurd quantity of DFs, a dozen in total.
The QF wil be interesting - two very under-ranked players who both want it. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to watch.
Will he get an SE anyway if he wins another round? I note Nottingham is a slight step up in tournament size
Fair point - I think the three Trophy Challenger events on grass though are all 127k euros arent they, according the ATP Challenger site calendar, so if that is correct, how does the SE process work? Does Dan get one for reaching this weeks semis?
Greaat to see Evo in the QF. Done enough for a MD WC to his next event now
Agree with that and if that is planned to be Nottingham then being a Midlands event is another good reason - relatively local.
Getting past qualies and playing straight from MD Rd1 will make a difference to him.
Yes can see the case now. But qualies to date has been right and probably good for him as he has built up match / general fitness. Never went with the Evo is back, fling MD WCs at him, as I say partly in his own interests and also let's see where you are.

He has to be still playing on the day of qualifying.
Dan Evans recorded his fifth victory in a row on the grass courts at Surbiton when he overcame Moraing 76(4) 63. The British qualifier will now have a day off before taking on Jurgen Melzer, a former world No. 8 and Wimbledon doubles champion, in the last eight on Friday.
He served well so it was a difficult match with not a lot of rallies, said Evans. I hung in and tried to keep the ball in the court as much as possible, hes been doing well lately so its a good win.
Has Melzer been off with injury, how come he's dropped so far down?
He's been out for ages with injury. Didn't play between Wimbledon last year and Marbella Challenger at the end of March this year - 9 months. And he only played Ilkley and Wimbledon after returning from injury. Hence he only has 4 ranking points (with 8 from RG and 20 from Surbiton to be added)
Edit - live rankings shows him at WR701 - jusst where Dan was yesterday
