[...] in the last 8 he could play Jurgen Melzer and he has played and beaten the veteran Austrian before , at Queens in 2014 on grass, albeit in a 3rd set TB. So Melzer is older now and Dan is probably hungry, so that would be winnable, as I would expect Melzer to beat Kevin King.
And beat King he did, by 4 & 4. His current ranking is 1245, but he's in on a PR & he's 37! The former world N° 8 (2011) slumming it in Challengers! There's dedication for you!
Now at 632 in the live rankings and a victory over Melzer would improve that by approx 100 more places.
Don't get ahead of yourself - he may be getting tired!
Isn't it odd that just a couple of years ago we were depressed at Mr Evans languishing in the 700's and not fulfilling his ability, now we are surprised if he doesn't put away a top 200 player. I wonder what he would have done if he had played for the last year.
Great result for Evo, watched the match thought he handled himself very well, always looked in control. Some spectacular points chucked in there and some sublime passing shots. I would hope that now earns him some WC'S for the upcoming grass court challengers.
I to be honest feel as if his comeback is going better than i originally expected considering he didn't pick up a racket until February.
What has impressed me the most is his ability to manage the big points well considering his lack of matches. Exciting times ahead, theres no british player i would rather watch especially on the grass than Evo, keep it up :)

With hindsight, I think it was a good decision in the end for Dan NOT to play doubles. After 5 singles matches in 5 days, fatigue may well be a factor given Dan is still short of match fitness. Having said that, I think Dan has a day off tomorrow and his QF will be on Friday giving him a well earned rest.
