I really like the idea of mixed and there is a lot of room for taking this form of tennis forward so that it does get more respect. There are ongoing conversations to reinvigorate tennis and make it more contemporary not just to younger people but to viewing audiences (live and TV). With on going politics around equality in sport, this could be a really interesting format. At the moment it is treated as a bit of fun (which also has its merit)
Women are able to enter the World Snooker Championships, since fairly recently. The best are able to challenge in the qualifiers (so competitive against the men ranked 30-60 in the world but no-one's managed to make it through yet).

That's a pretty good example of a sport that got bogged down with traditions and lost its huge popularity in the 80's. It's introduced new formats and rules (that are inclusive) and it might be now at the height of it's global popularity. I know it has a different skill set that doesn't require physical strength / stamina but tennis could adapt? Snooker will def have a world female champion, without doubt

In snooker woman have actually been able to compete with men on equal terms since the 1970's, not just recently. You only hear about it now because there are more women playing snooker.
Clearly a bit of a generality but maybe something in the genes but re snooker I've heard people suggest that women are much less likely to have the compulsive behavior required for the hours and hours of practice needed to hone their games.
Whatever, I do doubt a female world champion. I am pretty sure I won't see it anyway,
