No shame there, but it is a shame that one doubles win over a bunch of wildcards has seen her not being able to defend her 85 finals points and see her slip to 92 in the live rankings.
Who ? What ? Certainly doesn't fit Heather's doubles ...
Was just meaning that rule where if they are still in doubles at 6pm yesterday then you are automatically withdrawn for events the following week (well in Subiton's case at least). Now obviously they will know the risks when signing up for doubles but had she have lost this time yesterday she would have still been in Surbiton, but as Siniakova was competing in singles yesterday, Hev's match was switched to today after the deadline, so ultimately she has beaten a pair of wildcards in the doubles draw in a match she would have been expected to win and now will see her ranking drop 20 or 30 places as a result.
I'm sure in hindsight she would probably have rather lost the other day (maybe even Maria would as well as she was due at Surbiton, although not defending finals points).
Unless of course, there is a wildcard exemption and Hev takes the final WC?

Jo and her partner Dom Inglot have pulled out of the mixed doubles 2nd round match but can't find the reason why.
Did anybody ever find out the reason why? When talking about all the British in Paris being defeated this fell down a black hole somewhere.
Sunday's papers provided the answer. Jo pulled out citing a rib strain. Unfortunately Jo's French championships consisted more of reaction to her diatribe at the press conference than her actual tennis. There is another piece in The Mail on Sunday by Oliver Holt under the heading Konta's media attack misses the point. I think the message to anybody must be, don't publicly blame the media because you have a poor record at a tournament. One point he made is that she is widely liked and admired by journalists including himself. However perhaps with the emotion of losing you just want to hit out at somebody or something without thinking of the consequences.

Ah yes, got you. Sorry. And sorry for Hev
And indeed there apparently is a WC exemption. Hev has the final WC for Surbiton.
I see Makoto Ninomiya of Japan has reached the semi- finals of the ladies doubles unseeded with a fellow Japanese partner. Playing with a different partner she was one half of the Japanese partnership that defeated Jo and Heather in the Fed Cup doubles in April.
