I am not sure how many people follow cycling and some may have strong views on Chris Froome and Team Sky, but just to say Chris Froome has just put in one of the all time great cycling stage wins, riding solo for 80km to win the stage, turnover a 3 minutes plus time deficit and move into the leaders Pink jersey with just one stage left. Remembering if he wins, he will be the first Brit to win all 3 Grand Tour Jerseys.
Although I dont really know what happened with Froome and the salbutamol case, the fact is the guy wouldn't be here in Italy and doped up given the attention he is receiving, he clearly isnt using any performance enhancing methods this race. And he has clearly just turned in one of the best performances of all time. I think that in itself probably answers a lot of people in terms of whether he is a drugs cheat. What happened in the case still being investigated, I dont know, but for this performance, hats off.
That was probably the greatest ride in a grand tour for some time. Normally, the big guns would wait under the last climb and put in a big surge, but to go 80ks from the finish is some effort.
Team Sky always said that it would take Froome a couple of weeks to get into full stride and it looks like they have timed it perfectly. Despite all the accusations, he will now hold all 3 grand tour titles now.
I have a little sympathy for Simon Yates, who rode beautifully for the first two weeks and then ran out of gas.
