Don't know whether anybody reads the Daily Mail, but Charles Sale who writes a Sports Agenda obviously doesn't like Johanna Konta very much because he has made a pretty awful comment I think. He describes Jo as hugely over-rated and unlikeable. This is the only British female to reach Grand Slam semi-finals in the last 35 years. His own paper has built up Jo's prospects in the past. As for unlikeable has he ever met Jo? No wonder Jo described journalists with a word that had to be bleeped out.
The Daily Mail has become our literary version of Fox News with an increasing propensity, like the latter, to spread fake news. That comment sounds pretty sexist to me.
That's her problem though, when she rose through the rankings, she was extremely consistent. Now she has the a few good matches, a few more good sets, and a lot of rubbish.

I think Mr Sale's agenda is,and has been for a long time, to stir up trouble and controversy as much as possible. As for unlikeable,he should look in the mirror-thoroughly.
Following on from Charles Sale's opinion of Jo Konta I had a look back to a cutting I had on him from May 2016. On that occasion the BBC was doing its Olympic launch in Shoreditch There was a brief media round table interview with Clare Balding. However Clare Balding refused to do the interview unless Mr Sale was removed which he duly was. Obviously Clare Balding was not impressed with him.
I cannot remember him making any comments about Jo before or know if he has ever met her. His comments were on a par with some of the stuff on twitter and he was hardly reporting on sport. However back in 2012 when Jo was able to represent GB for the first time Mike Dickson , Daily Mail's tennis correspondent found her very pleasant on their first meeting.
