Week 21 - French Open Qualifying (Clay)

Liam got the break to go 3-1 and then got broken straight back as he missed a sitter by a fraction and engaged in risky serve-volley on break point.

Liam had two set points (I make it) in the tie-break but got over excited on the first and Kolar played well. Lost it 8-10

A shame, Kolar just seemed to have more weapons unfortunately.

Liam does fight for every ball, but he really isn't a natural on the dirt.

Where do you begin with Tomic? I hope he accepts the help that he needs to rebuild his career and reputation. I'm not sure what is motivating him to play anymore? On that basis, I think Jay will win esp if it get's close.

It appears that you've retired since posting this comment though wink  (See Loughborough thread)

Play nicely now Priesty

Shame for Liam - he had invested his spring in trying to do well on the clay and perhaps it hasnt quite paid off as he was hoping. He really wasnt too far but in the bit of the match that I saw, Kolar just seemed to have a little bit extra and was able to keep Liam pushed far back behind the baseline.

Probably best part of a couple of weeks off now to prepare for the grass and hopefully he will start seeing some further momentum.

Would be good to see Liam play Surbiton now then, next week to prep on grass, then hit the tournament courts...

Chung has withdrawn from the MDS, so one lucky loser spot to be filled from qualifying
