Feel for Heather. She looked out of sorts, complaining about line calls etc. But Gabi finished the stronger and big win for her against the number one seed.

Gabi must have gained a second wind after your comment end of first set that Gabi seemed very out of breath after any long rally.

Youre right, what do I know, lol?! She really finished well!

Did anyone get to the bottom of why Naomi is missing and Laura only in dubs?

Rope-a-dope from Gabi ?

I read that Heather "lost intensity".

I'd like to see Emily win.  I don't like to see players retiring from singles matches and then turning up to play doubles a few hours later.

I would rather Tara won been a fan of hers since seeing her at aged 17

A very tight match with a one sided MTB to TaCo.

Disappointed for Em but it was an unexpected run out I guess and some cash.

76(3) 67(6) 10-2

At least Tara's problem obviously wasn't a biggie.

I really do feel that Gabi, Katie X2, Harriet and Katy are all deserving of a shot in Wimby main dtaw

Not seen or heard anything although I think Laura is presumed to be feeling her way back in after being out for a few weeks with an injury issue.

An excellent day at Surbiton, at least for the GB women (apart from poor Hev, obviously) - until the sun started going down, there were always at least 3 matches on that I wanted to see, though Harriet was the only one who won too quickly for me to manage to see her at all. So many players (both in the draws and not), coaches and other easily recognisable faces around - e.g. players' parents, ex-pros, the Fed Cup captain and journos (including a blast from the past - Neil Harman)

I posted quite a few photos and videos (not great quality, especially after Twitter has compressed them ) on twitter.com/gbtennis so I won't repeat all that here but to clear up a few things people seem to be wondering about:

- Heather was getting quite stroppy with the umpire (and down on herself) late in the match - it was actually quite a high quality match, Hev not at her best obviously but Gabi was really good at times, hard, fast, accurate shots low over the net, very difficult to play and seemingly very strong mentally - I was really impressed; I saw Hev out the back with her coaches after the match and she looked pretty devastated, lots of points going undefended too - she did actually look in better shape than the last time I saw her, so I hope she manages to find some form again

- although Jodie pushed her hard in the 1st set, Katy was pretty impressive too - her coach came over after the match (nice of him to remember me) and I mentioned that it struck me that her physique seemed to have improved since I last saw her two years ago (she no longer looks like a young girl, and I mean that in a very good way) and he mentioned that she can now lift 4x as much as she could when she was first with them, so she's clearly been putting in some hard work off court - she has a tough one next, though, against grass specialist Alison Riske, who thrashed her 0&2 in Eastbourne a couple of years ago

- people on Twitter were asking me why Tara retired from her singles match and whether she would play doubles and I happened to bump into her as she was walking her dog around the grounds, so I asked - turned out it was a finger injury, painful but not major, and she was going to try to play the doubles but wasn't sure, genuine enough I think

- the reason the Katies pulled out was that Katie S had picked up a leg injury that she had struggled with late in her singles match, so presumably they're hoping to get her sorted out for Thursday (I think only Katy and Gabi's singles matches are on tomorrow's OoP)

Gabriella Taylor recorded one of the best wins of her career when she knocked top seed Heather Watson out of the Fuzion 100 Surbiton Trophy in the first round on Tuesday.

The world No. 184 battled back from a set down to triumph 36 64 63 in one hour 52 minutes and set up a second round match against Fanni Stollar (HUN).

I stayed positive throughout the whole match despite not feeling 100%, said Taylor. I think from the second set I played much better tennis; I was more comfortable and was striking the ball well so Im really pleased with myself and Im looking forward to the next round.

Katie Swan booked her place in the next round with victory over No. 7 seed Arina Rodionova, who is ranked 114 places above her. The British wild card struggled on serve in the first set but stayed focused and took her chances in the second and third to run out a 26 64 63 winner.

It was a tough match. Arina is a great player and she is tricky to play on grass because she has good hands, likes to come forward and she uses a lot of drop shots so Im happy that I managed to come through in the end, said the 19-year-old.

Swan will face compatriot Harriet Dart, who defeated qualifier Mariam Bolkvadze (GEO) 63 63, in the next round.

Katie Boulter came through a close three set encounter against qualifier Asia Muhammad (USA) 67(1) 76(4) 63 to advance to the second round where she will face No. 5 seed Jana Fett (CRO).

Ive known Asia a long time, she can play some really good tennis and her game suits this court, said the world No. 163. It was difficult today as I couldnt get my normal rhythm as it was my first match on grass so it was really good to get through.

There were also wins for Katy Dunne, who prevailed in her opening match against fellow Brit Jodie Anna Burrage 76(8) 63, and Dan Evans, who saw off a spirited challenge from Thomas Fabbiano (ITA) 64 75.

Top seeds Laura Robson (GBR) and Monique Adamczak (AUS) survived a close 16 63 10-8 encounter against British wild cards Sarah Beth Grey and Olivia Nicholls to reach the second round of the doubles.

My partner and I both felt like old ladies in the first set as it took a while for us to get going, shes got a knee injury and Ive got a hip injury, so we had to keep working at it and luckily it worked out but those match tiebreaks can go either way, said Robson.

Lleyton Hewitt won his doubles match with partner Alex Bolt. The Australian pair, who received a wild card into the doubles event, defeated Britain's Jay Clarke and Marcus Willis 46 75 10-7.
