Great to see Andy protect his ranking and not fall off the cliff in that regard.

Now we can look forward to Kyle v Andy.

Cam needs to to his part and then we can have Jay vs Cam as well.

Absolutely.

Great news to which to return home - the match hadn't even started when I left work!  biggrin  Mind you, I see it lasted for only an hour & 18 minutes.  Shouldn't have taken too much out of him.

L28:  (WC) Andy Murray WR 156 defeated (WC) Stan Wawrinka (SUI) WR 225 by 1 & 3

*****

L16:  (WC) Andy Murray WR 156 vs (2) Kyle Edmund WR 18

Jay has tweeted that he will be up to a CH - anyone know roughly where he will jump to?

Currently showing at 217 in live rankings.

Yes, just saw that. However openerarankings, which I would trust much more than live-tennis, would 'just' have him at 219 in live rankings once it has added his 20 further points today, equal with his CH 219. And he can be displaced from that.

I agree his updated 265 points.

Am I right in thinking that rankings calculations are more complicated this week as Eastbourne points get added on Monday but Wimbledon qualifying points don't go on until after Wimbledon ?

That is what happens, though in theory simply don't add the Wimbledon qualifying points. I would have thought it was the post Wimbledon rankings that might be more liable to get tricky.

But live-tennis does often have trouble with mild complications. They at least have Jay's points right.

By the way, I am not saying that that a 217 live ranking wrong for Jay is definitely wrong, since I don't know the others' points. Just my experience of live-tennis vs openerarankings makes me pretty doubtful.

It'll all come out in the wash. Or just win another match Jay to certainly go to a new CH.

Was just checking when Andy last lost in singles to a British players. Almost 12 years ago he lost to Tim in Bangkok. Will Kyle end that run?

Circumstances being what they are, he really should. But I hope that he doesnt.

It might be a tough one for Kyle to deal with. Hopefully he can just go out and play. That is no doubt what Andy will do with no real pressure but hoping it goes well.

Kyle at least has seemed to deal better with other situations this year compared to before.

Surely the world number 17 in live rankings should beat the new number 149?? Surely...

To be honest, I really do want Andy to win this one!

Well bonus for me as my dinner date was delayed so I managed to watch Andy's match until he was a set and a break up. What a fantastically encouraging performance and sheer pleasure to have him back. Onwards and upwards young man. I'm sure he will enjoy the challenge of getting back to the top. Surely he can't always have such tough draws, can he?
