Neither of them has held their serve so far in the 3rd set. Beth has just lost hers again by losing 4 pts in a row from 30-0 up... First person to hold has a good chance of winning the set and match
Well Beth and Olivia have gained their first 60k doubles win and 15 pts from it. Comfortable enough though Eden+ gave them a good go. Next up will the 3rd seeds and a different proposition, but on aggregate not that far ahead of Beth and Olivia in the rankings, so it should be a good test for our two.

This is the Frenchie tennis twitter feed getting all miffed as to why Eden got a wildcard....

More Eden Silva britannique de 22 ans et 480è mondiale obtient une WC à l'ITF de Saint-Gaudens
Luckily Victoria Larriere replied to set him right and explain that it's because she's in their team.
But others don't quite seem to have got it, claiming it's weird, and unfair.
Well I hope Eden can at least give Patty Schnyder a decent run for her money later today to justify the selection and that she was playing for the club over the weekend instead of being in qualifying ...
Eden playing now and despite some half decent rallies, she doesn't have enough weight of shot or good enough placement to trouble Patty S at all. Schnyder is not making many mistakes, and just keeps the rallies going until Eden can't reach a shot or is forced into an error. French twitter will be as snarky afterwards too... 0-6 0-2
She's had an awful start to the year overall, not pushed on after that very good end to the year. One or two good wins here and there, but largely setback after setback. Her ranking was also massively boosted by that shock Dubai QWC, think she jumped 60 odd places just by turning up against Diyas.
Should be entered into the WC playoff rather than a QWC for Wimbledon.
While there is certainly a very persuasive case for WCs getting no points unless they actually win a match ( the ATP have this right ) all Eden got in Dubai Premier qualifying was one point ( well rankings pointswise anyway ).
As she is currently GB #13 on live rankings, she would comfortably get in to the WC playoff, however few of those above her in the rankings actually get WC of any sort.

Ah, that's not too bad then, I was looking at the .eu live rankings at the time and I'm sure she jumped 50/60 places and I thought it was purely on the back of that, but it would have taken into account the delayed GB 25k QF 2 weeks prior (her only decent 2018 showing thus far) and then when other players results were added into the equation it was only an actual rise of 34 places - just seemed much more at the time, but a solitary point would only move you up 5/6/7 spaces at that circa 500 level.
Still, it's been a very poor run thus far, particularly her time in Obidos.

Saw her playing on clay in Edinburgh years ago when she was much younger I never saw anything to suggest she would trouble top 250
I saw Eden last year at Wimbly qualis and thought she had a surprisingly elegant game - but, as you say scottie, nothing to suggest that she was going to make real waves.
I think Eden is a very solid player, but I'd like to see her getting in the zone of turning up at 15ks and routinely reaching semis and finals. She's never been in that zone, and I think it's an important phase.

Yes, she needs to get used to winning more, you're right. Her play yesterday has some pretty patterns in it but no conviction. She never really looked like winning games, never mind anything else. And in most rallies she seemed to be more trying merely to stay in them than win the actual point. She carried no threat to her game, yet her basic shots seemed solid enough that she could have ratcheted things up more.
