I can hear Paul's cheers from here !

Lovely job from Emily.

Not a fan of the chips and moonshots but you've got to do what you've got to do and she showed some lovely intent on a lot of those forehands, really taking the ball on.

Brilliant week.

These 19 pts (net 18) will take Emily back up to the cusp of the top 500 once they go on... smile

Well deserved. Her opponent was very hit and miss in the gusty conditions and Em threw everything at her to make life awkward.

She went after it as CD said and got her reward

When she (finally) retires, she should retrain to be a coach on the psychological side. Her resilience and resourcefulness as evidenced from snippets from people who know more about her on this board are incredible. She really would be an inspirational person to have beside you from the sound of it.

Really well done!

I think she already acts as an informal mentor for many, and she is certainly the person who supports her peers on some of the tougher issues. So I agree with you, I think she would potentially be really good at this.

Not something I expected to see again. A very good news story as she will already surge back ahead of Jodie, Beth, Fran and Freya in the rankings

A couple more wins and she'll be GB #10

Emily is underway, but already struggling.

The court could be 6ft longer and 6ft wider and she still wouldn't find it today.

Having a mare in the cold blustery conditions today. Now rushing and panicking as she loses the set 6-0 in 20mins.

Needs to slow herself down. Funny sport tennis, what a difference a day makes.

I don't know much about her, but the obvious question for me is, if her mental side is so good, why didn't she get higher than 240?
