First rule in being a good doubles player - chose a good partner.

Not sure what happen. Bit bizarre as in final.game Em lost 4 points in a row to be broken, then scoreboard says Gai retired.

Notable how many retirements there have been in this event actually

Em and Rutuja take the first set 7-6(6)

Both got a bit tight serving for it at *5-4, then let a *4-1 and 5-3* lead in the tiebreaker slip. Fortunately the Chinese pair double faulted on their set point.

Close, but not quite close enough, Em and Rutuja lose 10-8 in the MTB

SF: Emily Webley-Smith/ Rutuja Bhosale (GBR/IND) 718 (229+489) lost to Hanyu Guo/ Yukun Zhang (CHN/CHN) [3] 711 (136+575) 7-6(6) 2-6 8-10 cry

A bit weird Emily's singles... a QF she really will not have been expecting, and not really deserved either. Here though in the doubles, I thought she had a good chance to go through...

Ach. Could really have done with one more win here. Shame.

Shame the dubs slipped away :(
Singles outcome odd but, assuming it is correctly reported, a bonus for Em so here's hoping she is indeed through and can make even more of it in the QF :)

There was a medical time out shortly before the retirement.

Well, these extremely fortuitous additional points will give Emily her biggest singles counter when they go on...

I think Em thinks something was not quite kosher about the linecalling in this match....

"10 good overules made by a good umpire. All calls made at the other end, all off our shots, on points we were winning. You do the maths...."

Playing well but the Chinese girl is wild.

Em misses three break points at 2-2* second set which could be crucial, though she didn't really have a play on any.
